Music and science workshop
In this workshop we are going to use science and technology to make musical instruments, as well as their programming. For this we are going to use the Scratch program. It consists of making a giant piano and later play a simple song (happy birthday or similar). It´s easy to do and we only need cardboard, tape, glue, foil, a computer.
Goals to achive:
- To relate science and music.
- To program with different program.
- To learn to make an electronic instrument.
Contents to be developed:
- Programs, use the computer, materials and tools…
Methodology.
To make the instrument, we will learn to use the next program.
We open scratch program.
We click on disguise and change the cat for a piano.
Import from the stuff folder. It will be object 1.
If you want, we click on object 1 and duplicate.
We already have object 2 and import another costume.
We already have two pianos or keys.
You can design, as you wish.
We click on object 1 and click on programs. We starts to program with control and sound of piano acording your tastes.

You can do it the same process with object number two with other sound.
To check the function, we can click on the green flag and we can see it.
In this case we have programmed the sound with the arrows key.
Now we can duplícate objects and repeat it untill to complete all the sounds and the piano we are designing. Once verified, we connect the communicator with the USB input of the computer and connect the ground cable at the ankle.
This will circulate a current to our hands.
This will circulate a current to our hands.
By touching any of the objects to which we have connected the terminals, the programmed sound will sound.
To make the piano we only need to make cardboard keys.
At the base we will put aluminum foil that will contact another piece of aluminum.
